My Top Scary Movie List

In this diary entry, I want to talk about a love of mine I’ve never truly expressed on my social media pages: movies! I love movies, films, cinema.. Whatever you want to call it. My love for moving pictures as an art form has struck my creative core when I was a wee lass and inspires me to this day.

Saying that, it would only be appropriate to write this diary entry topic in this particular month of October, because the movies that inspired me the most growing up were (and still are) scary movies!

And I want to share some of my top favorite scary movies in this, but first let me talk about where my love for movies even started…

When I was a teenager, I went to an old theater with my father in my hometown of Louisville, Kentucky, and they were doing a special screening of Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho. I remember leaving the movie and feeling a huge wave of inspiration just hit me like a train. Hearing my dad’s fun facts about the movie helped inspire me a ton. For example, like how the fake blood they used on set was chocolate syrup! So cool! Something in me clicked and from there on out I knew, I freakin’ LOVED movies! And I wanted to know everything about them. The production, the making, the actors, the story and meaning… just everything.

Since then, I have watched SO many movies. I was even a Film Studies minor in college, and it was literally the best class & subject I’ve ever taken because we watched and analyzed so many movies. And I’ve recently felt the urge to get back into movies to figure out what kind of artistic film I would want to make, be part of, or do myself one day. Because life is too short not to try or do what you love. And I feel so inspired to do something film-related one day… Hopefully soon!

All that to say, I wanted to share a few of my favorite scary movies & even TV shows because some are just as good as movies. Hopefully this inspires you to watch something spooky and in my personal opinion, these are excellent to watch any time of the year (not just for Halloween)!
